Committed

I am committed now.  The good news is that I even get to shave 9 days off my schedule.  The bad news is I only have 15 days including today to prepare.  I will be taking my hopefully last section of FAR on April 14th.  I am scheduled for noon, but I'll show up and hopefully get started around 10 am like I have on my other sections.  I wanted April 15th, but they only had an 8 am time slot and I hate mornings, let alone trying to fight traffic from north Austin to south Austin.  The next available non-8am time slot wasn't until the 21st.  My time is locked in and I've got a ton to do between now and then.

  1. I feel your pain. I am taking mine April 15.. but I have yet to get started on Lectures 8 and 9 of FAR..I hope to get started on 8 tomorrow.. I hope I have enough time to review! How do you do so well on the homework? Are you conscious of the time you spent on each question? I always get at least 10 points below your homework average. Freaks me out a bit that I am not grasping enough.. but I feel like I am!

  2. Started [re]studying for BEC last night. Got my 2010 Wiley Test Bank CD and it was great. I learned a lot last night that I thought I knew. Second time around will be a charm. Looking to schedule just before Memorial Day.

  3. FAR-8 wasn't too bad actually. I learned more about Fund accounting in the 4 hour lecture than I think I did all of my Fund accounting class. I get a headache just thinking about more multiple choice questions now.

Good luck on the re-study of BEC Angie. Hit the business structures and economics lightly to get it down and then focus on the cost accounting and financial management as that is the hardest material in the section for most.

  4. All of the ratios at the end of F7! I know we knew most of them for BEC.. but are you going to memorize them for FAR?! Did quite poorly on supplemental on that!

  5. I will probably read through them and maybe write out several of them. I am not going to fret over them though. It will really depend on how the rest of my studying goes next week and how pressed I feel overall.

  6. Glad to hear you're so motivated. Just curious how much time you spend on the Becker practice simulations ?

  7. For AUD and REG I worked the simulations each weekend after doing the classes and MC questions. I didn't spend much time on them (20-30 minutes each if that). Working the work tabs and then reading the answers mainly. On the written I really only worked with identifying the concept being asked about and then what I knew about the topic. I then just read the response rather than write my own. For FAR I really haven't touched the simulations as it has taken all my willpower just to get through the MC questions. I plan on working through the simulations and will use the same style I did for AUD and REG.

  8. I wish you best of luck! You got to come back and post something after taking the exam. Let us know how it went for you and if there were any surprises that Becker did not prepare us for. Again Good luck.

  9. I'm sure I'll come back and post how I'll have to keep studying to retake it after coming out of the exam on the 14th. Then there will be the mad ramblings between test taking and test scoring (probably need to ignore most of this as it will be insanity kicking in for me). I then expect to get my score, hopefully pass, then post that. I'll then do another write-up of my overall FAR Becker review and then probably a final overall Becker review.
