Back at the Beginning of FAR

12 days remaining (adjusted to final test date - saved 9 days over October 2009 estimate)
Mood - Ok
Study Time – 2.0 hours (370.5 total - FAR: 90.5 - BEC: 74.5 - REG: 118.0 - AUD: 89.5)
Scores:  AUD-94, REG-97, BEC-93

I thought I'd go back through the book and take notes.  My plan was to do FAR-1 tonight, FAR-2 through FAR-4 tomorrow, and FAR-5 through FAR-7 on Sunday.  It took me a bit over 2 hours to get through FAR-1 and do my notes.  That means I have two 8 hour days ahead.  I may need to modify my plan as I'm not sure I'll be able to focus for that long.   The good news is if I can get through all these I'll have a great set of notes.

Look at that day count down.....it is going to be here before I know it.

  1. Why do you need to take notes? Isn't it easier to just review each chapter and to just re-read the areas you need to focus on. Anyhow, the becker review material that I purchased came with flashcards and I have a final review book for financial. If you need it, let me know and I will mail it to you and you can just send it back to me when you are done. Let me know!

  2. I do have the Becker flashcards, although I haven't used them much on any section yet. I'm taking notes as a form of review. It is kindof like writing your spelling words over & over again back in school to help learn them. I'm also hoping to get each chapter down to 6-8 pages or so, which would be readable just before walking into the test.

  3. Question: In reference to Pooling of Interest Method, is it likely that we will see it on the exam or do you think the homework reading for that section is a waste of time. I am just skimming through it, is that good enough?

  4. Sorry, I have another question! I was looking at your link "My Current Status & Scores", what does the expire comlumn suppose to mean? This is all new to me.

  5. I've had questions from most of the homework reading sections. I've read it in detail once and will skim it again. As long as you get the general concept of it you should be alright.

Once you pass a section you have a certain amount of time to pass all the other sections. For Texas that period is 18 months from the date you took the test (most are 18 or 24 months I believe). In my case, AUD was the first section I took/passed. If I don't pass all of the other sections before 06/2011 then I will lose credit for passing AUD and have to retake it. Personally, I plan on passing FAR this April so it won't matter to me at all. Worse case I fail and I'll still have plenty of time to get through it before AUD expires. Some people though have failed or procrastinated enough that they've had to retake sections they previously passed due to them expiring.

  6. Got it! I always thought that rule applied jointly and all exams had to be retaken if all the exams were not taken in 18 months. Not bad, better than I thought.
