FAR Exam Taken

It was brutal.  The simulations were a complete killer.  The written were not on topics I was strong in.  I couldn't tell a difference in difficulty in the MC testlets.  The only saving grace I have on the MC testlets are that the 2nd and 3rd testlets took longer to get through, so I'm hoping they were actually harder.  I couldn't tell a difference like I was able to in REG or AUD though.  I'm pooped and a bit cranky at the moment so I'll try a more detailed good post after I relax and settle down.  It may be tomorrow.  For now I can rest at least.

  3. I couldn't tell if my FAR testlets were getting any harder either when I sat for it back in February but I thought that maybe it was just me because it was the first exam I had ever sat for and basically everything was new to me. I ended up passing. Don't worry!

  4. I think you did well, just relax! When do you get your test results?

  5. All-in-all, I am proud of you! People like you are the ones we look up to so we can strive to our fullest potentials.

Anyhow, my first exam will be FAR, hopefully. I should have done what you did, take the others and just saved FAR for the end. Hmmmmm!!

    :)

  6. I'm hardly anyone to look up to. I just whined about it on a blog. The people that have failed sections repeatedly and stick to it are the real troopers to look up to.

I can hope for results towards the end of May, although it could be the end of June before I get it.

  7. BTW, if you knock FAR out as your first one it is all downhill after that.

  8. So you think that "FAR" is the hardest and it should get it done first?

  9. There is certainly a benefit to having it out of the way first. There are pros and cons to it. The biggest benefit is getting the hard, massive section out of the way first. You also have less to fear about sections expiring from failing FAR if you pass it first. There is a learning curve to how the CPA exam goes. I was a lot less nervous going into this exam given my experience on the past three. I am somewhat less freaked out by my struggles with the actual test since I know from the other sections you can feel like crap and it works out fine. In the end it doesn't really matter which order you do. It was hard to focus towards the end for me just due to being tired of the exam. It might have been better to have that last section be an easier one in case I would have slacked off.

  10. I would concur with Dale's last post. There is a benefit to getting FAR done first! However I am experiencing the end of exam focus problems now, I took FAR first, then AUD, then BEC, and I am taking Reg next Sat. I am having tremendous difficultly staying focused. I just want this to be over with!

  11. Thankfully REG is fairly logical once you understand what the IRS is trying to do. There was a ton of material, but it wasn't wonky like FAR was.

My brain is still mush this morning.

  12. I felt terrible after I took FAR and just knew I was going to be seeing that again. I went home and cried to my family and friends. Just when I thought the world was at an end, I passed with a 83. Dale, you have been working hard and methodically so keep your head up. I am willing to bet you have a passing grade.

You are right...took FAR first and that was the one I was most motivated and scared of. All else was downhill.

  13. Question: So were all the Becker Practice Multiple Choice Questions helpful for the exam? Your feedback would be greatly appreciated! :)

  14. Yes, the topics covered by the Becker lectures and homework were applicable to the test. Becker did a good job on all four sections for preparing me for the tests.
